The A.P. Public Service Commission came into existence on 1 st November, 1956 with the formation of the State of Andhra Pradesh .
Before this, there was Andhra Public Service Commission in the Andhra State and Hyderabad Public Service Commission in the Hyderabad State . Andhra Service Commission came into existence only in 1953 after the bifurcation of composite Madras State into Andhra and Madras States .

Andhra Pradesh University of Law (APUL)

Visakhapatnam has issued admission notification 2011

Ph.D. and LL.D. Programmes for the academic year 2011-12.Ph.D.
offered in full time and part time mode. Admission will be based on the performance in written test. Interested candidates can download the syllabus and model papers from the University website at www.apulvisakha.org. Following are details of programmes, eligibility and application procedure:

1) Doctor of Philosophy in Law
2) Doctor of Philosophy in Social Sciences with Law
3) Doctor of Philosophy in Science or allied subjects with Law
4) Doctor of Philosophy in Human Rights Law

Educational qualifications: For full time programme, applicants should have a Master’s Degree in Law from any recognised University with minimum of 55 percent marks in the aggregate. For part time programme, candidates should be a Judge of any State High Court in India or Supreme Court of India with minimum 10 years of active practice.
