Admission will be made on the basis of candidates' performance in the written test, followed by interview, to be conducted by the University.

Note: Candidates who have already passed UGC / CSIR (JRF) Examinations / NET / SET / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M Phil / M Tech or equivalent examination need not appear at the written examination, but have to appear at the interview.

Interested candidates can download the prescribed application form from the University’s official website: http://www.caluniv.ac.in/. The direct link to download the application fee is: http://www.physics-caluniv.in/downloads/phd-applicform.pdf. The application fee is Rs 100 which is to be paid through proper challan obtainable from College Street Campus (Sales Counter). The duly filled in application form, along with the counterpart of challan and requisite documents, should be submitted to the office of the Department of Physics, University of Calcutta, 92 Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata 700009, latest by February 22, 2012.
