Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education, established in 1910, is under the purview of the Department of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, India. Up to and ending at the secondary (class 10) level, the following streams of education are offered: the SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) stream, the Anglo-Indian stream, the Oriental School Leaving Certificate (OSLC) stream and the Matriculation stream.

More than 170 tests are conducted by TNPSC every six months in May and in Dec for Government services required under various services. It includes TNEB, TWAD & Chennai Metrowater etc. About 60,000 personnel take the exams every May and 25,000 every December.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission performs various duties and functions. TNPSC also conducts Half-Yearly tests for probationers IAS, IPS, IFS, State Civil Service, TN Police Service, TN Forest Service, etc. amil NaduPublic Service Commission has had a glorious past of 75 years. During 1923, the Lee Commission had recommended setting up of a Central Public Service Commission in India, but it did not give much thought to the need of establishing similar commissions in provinces.
